My Story
I was born in 1988. I come from Slovakia. As a child, I was a pale, shy boy because my parents were arguing a lot. When I was a primary school student, older students bullied me. Among other things, I was overweight so I was a clear goal for them. When I was ten, an older student smashed a piece of ice on my head and caused a mild concussion. My parents solved it the best way they could and when I was 10, I was registered for karate. I was very ashamed in the first lesson, and if it weren’t for my father, who pulled my hand through the whole gym to beginners, I would have left. I had an incredible anti-talent. The first season of the competition, about a year after my start, I lost all the competitions I could in the first round. But I always trained hard not only in training but also at home. After two years after my father took me to the introductory training, I started winning competitions. As I mentioned, I had never had talent. It was the result of my hard work. Gradually, I became the champion of Slovakia 13 times. I also added victories at international competitions. I experienced my first world championships when I was 15 years old; it took place in Cyprus. I went there as a big favourite of the Slovak national team. In the first round, however, I came across a finalist from Iran. To my great disappointment, I lost and the following days I fell into depression, in which not even the beautiful clear sea helped me. However, when I got home, I shook off the defeat and motivated myself to be a world champion in karate. Gradually, after hard training and participation in training camps, the fifth place at the European Championships, later the fourth place at the European Championships and the fifth place at the World Championships. When I was 22 years old, after 12 years of two-phase training, I became the world karate champion for the first time. In the final, I met the home Italian, who was the current world champion, and after the nerve-wracking final, in which I even lost a few seconds before the end, I won. For the next three years, I fought internationally and won the world title twice more. I finished third last season and ended my professional career. When I was 18, I organized children’s camps called Tabino.
I already trained karate kids there. In the following years I studied at the University of Masaryk in Brno, Department of Nutrition and Regeneration in Sport. I studied very well. I enjoyed the fact that I already made a living from nutrition counselling and coaching at that time. I ended up in the fifth semester out of six. So far, I’m sorry for that and I’m still thinking of completing the college. I also continued my career as a nutrition consultant and coach, which I have been doing for 15 years, and I have raised several Slovak champions. After a few years, I added second place from the Slovak championships and continued training karate, to which I added kickboxing trainings. At the end of 2020, I wanted to participate and win the kickboxing competition but despite hard training my condition went down. Eventually, I was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary infarction – embolism. I just escaped the worst, which brought me new motivation in life and the idea that everything we do and love should be done to the fullest, because no one knows how long they will be in this world. Two months after the embolism, I trained kickboxing to the surprise of doctors, but I had to rebuild my condition. Currently, half a year after the embolism, I have a form at the level of competing karate athletes and I am fully dedicated to creating nutrition and made-to-measure training plans. In conclusion, I will just add that I plan to participate in the kickboxing competition by the end of the year and thus add another medal to my 111 medal placements.
